Boost your metabolism

Metabolism constitutes of activities that happen inside your body and allows you to live and grow and digest your food. The belief is such that generally metabolic rate is determined by your genetics. However there are a lot of trusted research that is done on this topic and they prove that you can make your body start burning calories more efficiently by providing your body with the required levels of vitamins and minerals. Vitamin B is the most essential ingredient which helps DNA synthesis. It also helps metabolism of carbohydrates, fats and protein and energy production too. Deficiency of Vitamin B6, B12, folate, thiamin and niacin makes your body metabolism slows down.

The best metabolism booster is exercise. Muscles burn calories faster than fat and hence do wonders in increasing your metabolism. It is advisable to keep yourself well hydrated as water is essential for metabolism. Green tea contains antioxidants and is excellent to increase metabolic rate. Food items such as apple, spinach and broccoli, grape fruit, poultry products etc are considered to be natural metabolism boosters.

Apart from these you also have natural and scientifically-formulated metabolism boosting supplements available. B vitamin supplements are the best metabolism boosters.

Know the ideal blood sugar level and cholesterol level

They say precaution is always better than cure. With the increasing instances of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and heart attacks, it is important that everyone above the age of 30 goes through periodical health checkups. This helps you indentify signs of any diseases much before they have adverse effect on you.

If the range is between 100 to 125 then that is normal. And when the level is 126 or above then you are at risk of diabetes. If you have a level of 126 or above during one of the tests but otherwise it’s lesser, then that’s okay, but if you test 126 or above in more than one test then that is an indicator of diabetes. If one has fasted for more than 10 hours then the glucose level should be in the range of 70 to 99.

A cholesterol level below 200 is considered desirable and profiles the individual at a low risk of heart disease. An individual having cholesterol level of 200-240 is profiled at moderate risk. At this level your doctor would do a lipid profile to see if your high cholesterol is bad cholesterol or good cholesterol. A cholesterol level above 240 is considered high risk.

Stay Hydrated for a illness free life

Our body is composed of 75% water. All our bodily activities like digestion, secretion of juices, metabolism, excretion etc are linked to the amount of water available at our body’s disposal. Most of us are unaware of this critical fact and are far away from gaining the benefits of keeping your body well hydrated. Our lifestyle is such that we keep our body immensely dehydrated. The initial step that one needs to take is to make up one’s mind to have 2 liters of water every day.

As you start this practice the first thing that happens is that your cells which are not used to be fed so much water, simply refuses to absorb the water. They are not used to function with so much water. This is the first challenge that anyone who has decided to have 2 liters of water a day needs to overcome. Because our cells don’t absorb enough water that we now drink, you feel bloated. Many people dislike this symptom and just give up with this immensely helpful goal. Don’t give up! Continue drinking 2 liters a day and in a week or two the bloating will subside and you will feel better. Then your main task is to continue with this practice and not let it stop anytime.

It’s after the first two weeks that you realize the actual distinction between hydration and thirst. You will occasionally sense that your throat is dry inspite of the fact that you have been drinking 2 liters of water a day. This is not because you are thirsty but because you body needs to be hydrated. Since your body is hydrated so well every day, your body’s water conservation system takes a break as all cells receive their required quantity of water freely now.

Now is the time to start experiencing the benefits of our 2 liter a day water practice. You feel that your digestion is normal; adrenaline imbalance is taken care of. You don’t feel nervous often now. Blood circulation is better etc.  You achieve a lot of benefits by this healthy practice. The key is not to give up on this even if you have challenges like commuting, irregular work hours etc. Some people also get bored because you have to ensure you keep water available with you all the time. It’s observed that most people opt out of the practice after the first 2 weeks. They were just a week or 2 away from seeing the immense benefits that this practice can offer.

We all have heard that it’s important to keep our body well hydrated. But no one has got into the exact details of telling the public why that is so. It can bring about so many healthy changes that no other program can do.

So stay hydrated and stay healthy.

Detox and Lose weight with lemon juice diet

Easy and effective

Having lemonade is considered to be a detox diet. Any pollutants or toxins gathered in your body are easily flushed
out by lemonade. This diet can trigger faster weight loss in people who follow it religiously. The diet involves having lemon juice 3 -4 times a day and nothing else. This will detoxify your body and shed away all the toxins inside.

Beyonce, the singer who used this diet lost about 20 pounds. That’s not all, I know of many who have benefitted in their weight loss program by following this diet.

Having understood the benefits, one should also note that it isn’t a easy diet to follow. Lemon is an integral part of this diet. Detox as such occurs when you eat very little. This diet should be used only for 3 to 10 days. Any amount of days above that can prove to be unhealthy. Since this produces faster results, it can be used as a starting point for more regular traditional exercise and diet routine. Exercise and traditional diet routine should be followed for months and years.

In short you can use this diet to start your weight loss process and also lose some pounds but unless you back it up with regular exercising and sensible eating, this diet is not sustainable.

What are the kinds of fruits to be eaten when I'm on a diet?

Dieting seems to be a buzz word these days. Having a chiseled body is what everybody young and old desire today. Moreover being overweight also invites many lifestyle diseases. Hence you have to manage your weight.

Along with regular aerobic exercises one should follow a strict diet as well. Your diet should be high in nutrients, fiber, proteins etc and also they should be low on fat and cholesterol.

It’s always best to stick with a diet rich in vegetables and fruits. Watermelon and Muskmelons are the best when it comes to dieting. Watermelons have high water content and also are a great fat burner.
Mango is another good fruit for diet. It has more fiber than other fruits, it’s low in calories, fat and sodium, contains no cholesterol, and has more beta carotene than any other fruit.
Fruits which are high in citrus acid like lemon and oranges are great detoxifiers. These should also be a part of your diet plan. Starting your day with lime juice with honey acts immensely at shedding the extra kilos.
Grapes which are low on acidic content are also good when dieting. Please ensure the quality of the fruits that you have is good and you enjoy your fruit diet.
Berries like raspberry, cranberry and blue berries are excellent low carb fruits and great while dieting.

Enjoy having fruits. Do not sulk. It is very essential in having the desired effect on your body.

Eating Healthy is very Important

The food we eat shape our bodies and minds and have a huge impact on how prone we are to disease. Many modern day diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, piles and heart disease can directly be attributed to diets overloaded with saturated fats and high glycemic loaded food. Processed food are the most popular these days and they are one of the biggest culprit in limiting us from derieving the benefits form natural food like fruits and vegetables.

We also tend to consume far more food than our bodies need to function, hence the overwhelming number of people with weight management issues today. Mostly we address food quantity as 'Portion'. What is a portion for you may not be the defined in the same manner by me. Hence many of us misjudge the quantity that our body actually needs and more often than not overeat. I have shown the portion sizes for you to estimate and think how much we consume vis-a-vis how much we should.

Buffet's are another culprit we can say. When eating from a Buffet, we tend to take more food than required. We binge. We want to have a share of everything on display. Please avoid this and take only that you want to have and the amount thats enough for your body.

The good news is that we can reap the benefits of healthy eating and lower the risk of, or even reverse many of the diseases by eating a healthy diet based on a variety of nutritious foods from the healthy eating pyramid.
